This week we discuss the WORST BEST PICTURE WINNERS AT THE OSCARS. Also we discuss the new movies TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY and WE BOUGHT A ZOO. In the news James Franco lands a new role, Kristin Wiig does not want to do Bridesmaids 2, and a man strips at a Chipmunks screening.
Although they are good films I do not think A Beautiful Mind, Shakespeare in Love, The King’s Speech, Crash, The English Patient, The Hurt Locker, or Forest Gump should have won Best Picture. Personally I would have rather films like Brokeback Mountain, Pulp Fiction, There Will Be Blood, Fargo, etc, win. I guess it all comes down to what characteristics make a film worthy of a Best Picture award. This causes a huge problem because everyone’s tastes are so different. Gone are the days when sweeping epics instantly won the award. Nowadays the nominees get more and more diverse. The fans of the King’s Speech may not be the same type of people who watch films like Winter’s Bone or Inception.
