This week we discuss our favorite MOVIES ABOUT MOVIES. We also review the new movie 50/50. In the news a new HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2 TRAILER, a new TWILIGHT ZONE MOVIE, and IDRIS ALBA WANTS TO BE JAMES BOND.
Watched 8 ½ for the first time a few weeks ago and love it. So many fantastic shots in the film: the kite scene, Guido suffocating in the car, Guido cowering under the desk at the press conference, the dream sequence where he is being treated like a king by all the women, etc. Here are a few others films about films not mentioned:
The Artist (saw this at TIFF this year, would be shocked if it does not get a Best Picture nod.) Even the Rain Broken Embraces Machete Maidens Unleashed (doc about how certain 70s exploitation films are made) The New Nightmare Scream 3
Pan Am and Charlie's Angels are awful! Completely agree with the black women casted on Survivor, Angels, and The Playboy club. Besides being average looking at best, they are the trademark “sassy” character. Really, how has network TV not evolved when it comes to black characters? The only new show I am really enjoying is Prime Suspect. Terra Nova has not grabbed me yet, plus the black characters do not fair so well in the first episode.

Hmmm... I would love to see Machete Maidens. Where can I find that?
ReplyDeleteTotally agree on Prime Suspect...pretty good so far. And I was a huge fan of the original British series with Helen Mirren as the lead.
ReplyDeleteMachete Maidens Unleashed should be on Netflix in the States now (its available on Netflix Canada I believe). I saw the film at TIFF in 2010.
